Imphal, February 23 2009:
In the wake of the NSCN (IM) owning the involvement of its ranks and files in the killing of Dr Kishan and two of his subordinates, the Meetei National Front (MNF), Kangleipak today demanded the detail information of the cadres involved in the killing be made known to the public while also urging the government to award fitting punishment to the IM cadres involved in the killing.
In a press statement, the MNF vice-president, Th.Wangamba Meetei urged the authority to move all NSCN (IM) camps out from Manipur.
The statement said that till now the security forces have failed to book every perpetrator of any crime be it in the hill or valley area while the government is trying to subdue the voice of the people that have been raised for the sake of good governance.
It said that this has been proved in the case of the killing incident of Dr Kishan and two of his staff.
The government has most of the time, tried to curb the agitation of the people by concealing it.
It said that this time too, the government is trying to suppress the agitation of the people by promptly announcing that the case will be handed over to the CBI.
The government is bothered only to give ex-gratia and job to the next of kin.
The MNF wants that the roots of every issue be traced so that it proves obliging in the long run.
Had it be done this before, several unwanted happenings may be averted, the statement said.
It further said that the government will become anti-people if it continues to resort to firing tear gas, imposition of curfew to suppress the public agitation.
Urging the authority to handover the culprits involved in the killing to the public, it also demanded the detail information of the cadres to be announced to the public.
And taking into view that the NSCN (IM) has broke the ceasefire ground rules, all camps of the outfit be evicted from the state of Manipur.
It also urges to place more demands including that are beneficial in the long run.
The MNF also joins in the condemnation over the killing and said that it will support any agitation that is to be launched.
