Imphal, February 23 2009:
Expressing concern over the irregular implementation of NREGS in the state, the Manipur People's Party (MPP) today said that it is very unfortunate to have a RD and PR Minister lacking awareness in NREGS.
In a press release, the MPP general secretary, political affairs and local bodies, H Manisana laments the deeds of the concerned minister in dealing the NREGS in Manipur.
It said that the minister came to sense only when the Manipur stall was found missing in the recently held NREGS fair in New Delhi.
Instead of taking steps for the success of the scheme, the minister threatened to take action against respective DCs who are also district-wise coordinators regarding the NREGS, the statement pointed out.It also decried the minister's statement which appeared in local media that some flaws are bound to crop up as the scheme is implemented in the state for the first time and in hurry.
The statement challenged the minister's audacity in making the statement as it has been three years since the implementation of NREGS has began in hill districts of the state while also asking the minister whether he had not counted the hill districts within Manipur.
Citing the minister's various inactivity and inability in implementing the scheme in Manipur, the MPP statement said that it would be right on the part of the minister to resign from his post on moral ground.
