The Subsidiary Intelligence Bureau (SIB) has taken statement of the three persons who are in the custody of the Assam Rifles after they were picked up from Tolloi village of Ukhrul as the bureau has also started investigation into the murder case of the three government employees including the SDO, Dr Kishan.
The statement of the three rescued employees who were abducted together with the murdered SDO and his two staff was taken by the SIB team led by its joint director Anandkumar who arrived here in Imphal today and taken the statement of the three rescued persons who are still in the custody of the Inspector General of Assam Rifles, South, IGAR(S) at Mantripukhri, official source said today.
The three missing employees abducted together with the murder SDO identified as Ramthing Tangkhul Ramshing, Kaphumlup Jimik andThankhul are in the custody of the IGAR(S) since they were transported from Ukhrul by helicopter.
They were rounded up by the troops of Assam Rifles during search operations launched in the district by the combined force of Assam Rifles, Army and police to hunt out the culprits involved in the murder of SDO and his two subordinate staff by the miscreants.
NSCN (IM) had admitted that its commanding officer of the Kiusumong Battalion, Lt Col H Nungshen has masterminded in the murder of the SDO and his staff.
The statement of the three rescued persons was taken by the SIB officials amidst the state government decision to hand over the case to the Central investigation agency CBI apart from state out inquiry into the case.
In the meantime, in the wake of public protest over the murder of the SDO and his staff, state police sanctioned 3000 tear gas shells to use in controlling mobs.
State authority is also deploying two battalions, 5th and 6th IRB round the clock in Imphal areas to control any public uprising.
Apart from this, 65 gypsies procured by the state police under the modernization of police force with funds from the Centre are utilizing in maintaining public orders in Imphal areas, the source disclosed.
