The head mason engaged in the construction work of a godown of the Food Corporation of India (FCI) at Ningthoupham of Senapati district kidnapped by suspected underground cadres has been released unharmed, a police source said today.
On September 9, suspected cadres of the NSCN (K) had abducted the mason, Thounaojam Jugindro (42) son of late Naba of Mongsangei from the from his work place at Ningthoupham, seven kilometers away from Senapati district police station.
Police said that he was taken away by the some suspected cadres of the outfit at gunpoint from the work site.
He was released yesterday afternoon unharmed.
But police was not informed of the matter on the same day.
They come to know only today, a police officer here said adding that contractor of the FCI work had secured the release of the mason reportedly through negotiations.
Police is also still not clear of who could have helped the contractor to secure the release of his head mason.
