Suspected underground activists today kidnapped a lady doctor along with one of the nurses posted at Mekola Primary Health Centre under Nambol Police Station taking them away on the pretext of attending to an emergency call.
The lady doctor has been identified as RK Joymati (45) wife of Sinam Santikumar of Thangmeiband Sinam Leikai while the nurse is Kabita Devi (28) of Gobinda Gram of Nambol.
They were taken away by the miscreants on a false emergency call at about 1.30 pm.
Three unidentified youths who came on two motorcycles entered the PHC at Mekola and pleaded the doctor to attend an emergency call saying that an accident had occurred at Utlou and they could not bring the injured persons to the hospital.
The trio asked the doctor to travel by a motorcycle they had come with.
The doctor wishing to extend helping hand said shewould come in her own vehicle with a nurse the two immediately left the healthcare centre where the staff were about o attend to a delivery case, reports said.
The fact that the doctor and nurse had been kidnapped came to be known to the staff of the PHC when the doctor and her colleague failed to return till late evening.
When inquired of an accident in Utlou, locals informed them that the doctor and the nurse had been had been abducted by three unknown youths.
Police suspected the kidnappers to be activists of KCP-Mobile Task Force citing that the group had been demanding a huge amount of money from the PHC.
