Failure on the part of the kidnappers said to be activists of KCP(MC) to release the engineer and his wife four day back on March 19, locals of Singjamei where the engineer hail from joining hand with the employees of the state PDW staged a sit-in protest Monday here demanding unconditional release of them.
The two daughters of the engineer appearing this year's HSLC and HSSLC exams also took part in the protest which was carried out in front of the PDW head office at Khoyathong.
In the absent of their parents, the study atmosphere of the two daughters appearing HSLC and HSSLC exams also severely affected as they said that they could not concentrated to reading on thinking what would happened to their parent, particularly to their ailing father and how they would be treated by the kidnappers.
Militants kidnapped and taken into captivity the ailing assistant engineer of the state PWD (highway division-III) named Moirangthem Janaki from his resident at Singjamei Oinam Thingel, Imphal along with his wife on the night of Match 19 at around 7.30 pm apparently in connection with monetary from the PWD.

We could not live without them," cried the younger daughter taking part in the protest sitting next to her sister.
"Don't play game of dead, life is precious-don't play with it, we hate kidnapping culture, government should ensure protection of engineers etc.

Even though engineers participating in the protest refused to give any comment regarding the kidnapping of their colleague, source closed to the PWD said that the engineer has been kidnapped in connection with a huge monetary demand from the department by the KCP (MC) group.
Kh Ahila, a local woman taking part in the protest said, kidnapping, threatening of people with bombs and guns which are hey of the day in Manipur have kept the people of all section of the society in a state of sorrow and woe.
The evening bell of the Govindaji no more heard in the evening.
Instead the sound of bomb blast and gun firing at the house replaced it, she further lamented expressing concerned over the increasing threats to the people with bombs and guns.
