A total of 19 bands from 10 States, including Nagaland have short-listed to take part for the mega musical event � Hornbill National Rock Contest 2009 scheduled from December 1 to 7 at Naga Heritage Village, Kisama.
Four local bands were selected through an audition on Friday while 15 bands from nine States were selected today by the Music Task Force, Nagaland, organizers of Rock festival.
The 15 bands selected from outside the state for the contest, include: Abraxas from Pune, Maharastra; Baraka from Darjeeling, West Bengal; Chronic Xorn from Kolkata, West Bengal; Cynical Recess from Kolkata, West Bengal; Hypnosis from New Delhi; Inferno from Mumbai, Maharashtra; Kanglasha from Manipur; Lucid Recess from Guwahati, Assam; Phobia from New Delhi; Pip of the Fourth Mother from Shillong, Meghalaya; Silverscreen from Kolkata, West Bengal; Slain from Bangalore, Karnataka; Sonstroke from Bangalore, Karnataka; Stacy's Penitence from Mizoram and The Pot, Stone and Blues from Ahmedabad, Gujarat.
The four local bands include - OFF, Dementia, Sunep Ensemble Band and Melodrama.
The winners of this contest will bag Rs.5 lakh as first prize, Rs.1.5 lakh as runners-up and Rs.1 lakh as third place winners, besides individual prizes worth Rs.25,000. Mention may be made here that the Hornbill National Rock Contest 2009 is an integral event of the Hornbill Festival 2009 and will feature the evening entertainment programmes slot at Kisama from December 4 to 7, organised by the Music Task Force (YRS), Nagaland while the production and events are managed by XL, a tested and reliable event management organization.
