Notwithstanding the stringent security measures being taken up ahead of the Monsoon session of the Assembly, which is to begin from tomorrow, a hand grenade suspected to have been planted by unidentified armed persons was found in a shop located just a stone throw away from the Assembly complex today.
According to police report, the bomb, a Chinese made hand grenade, was found hanging with a plastic rope from the padlock of the footwear shop (Plot no.B 17) in the temporary market shed of Khwairamband Bazar located around 30 metres behind the building of Assembly Secretariat at around 6 am.
It was detected when the owner of the shop identified as Md Ningthemcha (31) s/o Md Ejalya came to open his shop.
When the news of the bomb spread, a team of Police Commandos on a motorbike came and removed the bomb safely.
It is the second time that bombs have been found planted inside the temporary market shed of Khwairamband Bazar.
On June 30, another bomb was found planted inside a pharmacy located along found planted inside a pharmacy located along the side of the temporary market shed.
In protest against the latest incident, all the shops remained shut for the day today.
The sudden shut down had caused lot of inconveniences to the people coming for shopping from different parts of the State.
Interestingly, when the news of the bomb spread, security rehearsal in connection with the monsoon session of the Assembly due to begin from tomorrow was being conducted.
