Imphal, July 06 2010:
The Media Advisor of Regional Institute of Medical Sciences (RIMS) has rebutted the charges levelled in a section of the newspapers.
Reacting to a comment published in a section of the press which suggested that a regular Director was needed, the Media Advisor clarified that while welcoming the spirit of the suggestion, it is incomprehensible why it was dove tailed with a baseless and misleading statement on the functioning of the hospital.
Besides there are some factual mistakes.
The Media Advisor said that it was alleged that nutritious items like fish, meat and eggs were supplied to the ward patients by private catering services in the past.
RIMS had never used the services of private caterers.
Besides no meat or egg is supplied.
The ward patients are being given fish on daily basis.
The bed sheets are changed once in a week.
It also wrong to say that there is obvious neglect and that the roster system to monitor the works of the nurses and grade IV employees had been done away with, the Media Advisor said.
