With the stated aim and objective to sensitise the community and control of spread of HIV/AIDS in the State, the Manipur Aids Control Society in collaboration with District AIDS Prevention and Control Units has started telecasting the ongoing FIFA World Cup matches from the quarter final stages in all the district headquarters and sub-divisional headquarters at Jiribam, Moreh and Chakpikarong, said a statement issued by MACS.
Towards this end, MACS will screen documentaries on HIV/AIDS to the general public, before the start of each match.
To increase the number of HIV testing in the districts, five mobile integrated Counselling and Testing Centre vans will be stationed in the hill areas where live telecasts is on, while in the valley districts makeshift ICTCs manned by counsellors and LAb Technicians have been opened at the venue, said the statement.
The places where the live telecast of the World Cup matches are, Durga Puja Lampak, Wangkhei, Imphal East; THAU ground, Thangmeiband in Imphal West; Kumbi bazar in Bishnupur district, Kakching in Thoubal district, Youth Hostel, Ukhrul town in Ukhrul headquarters, Chakpikarong and Moreh in Chandel district, New Lamka YPA Hall and Tuibong Community Hall in Churachandpur district, Indoor stadium in Senapati district and Immanuel Baptists Church in Tamenglong district.
