Dimapur, July 06 2010:
Convenor of Forum for Naga Reconciliation (FNR) Dr Wati Aier expressed that there have been tremendous progress in the reconciliation process among the Naga underground organisations.
Talking to Newmai News Network, Dr Wati Aier said that though there arises at times hiccups and difficulties, the reconconciliation process is doing great.
Dr Wati Aier said this when queried by NNN as to why the three Naga underground organisations viz, the NSCN/GPRN (NSCN-IM), the GPRN/NSCN (NSCN-K) and the FGN/NNC continue to hurl accusation statements in the media against each other inspite of the numerous inkings of the covenants not to issue such press communiques.
The FNR convenor explained that there are unseen factors and extremely difficult situations that have been experienced by the Naga underground organisations which often give to occasional hiccups.
"But the public have to understand the situation.
This does not mean that the Naga national workers (Naga underground organisations) do not commit to the covenant," said Dr Wati Aier.
The FNR came into existence in the year 2008 .
Prior to the birth of FNR, constant fear-psychosis gripped in the Naga areas as there were continuous factional fights and killings among the Naga underground groups.
In several cases the innocent public used to bear the impact of this figtings.
Kudos to Dr Wati and his team of FNR, the sounds of gun-shots are now things of the past in Naga areas.
In the initial stage, joint football matches were organised by the FNR for the three Naga underground groups as part of the reconciliation move.
Numerous joint meetings of the three Naga underground groups had also been held convened by the FNR both in India and abroad with the latest of such was held at Chiangmai in Thailand.
