Imphal, May 06 2009:
Announcing to intensify its ongoing agitation against the non-completion of NLCPR drinking water project, Senapati District Students' Association (SDSA) said that it would seize all PHED goods from May 7 .
A press statement of the students' body said that the NH-39 economic blockade launched in May last year was suspended according to a memorandum of understanding signed between the association and three MLAs, DD Thaisii, K Raina and M Thohrii.
The MoU was inked as the Chief Minister and PHED Minister made their assurances through these MLAs to complete the project by December 2008.SDSA also questioned the moral responsibility of the three MLAs as the assurances have not been translated into action/reality from the side of the State Government.
The students body further said that the hasty inauguration of the project on November 15, 2008 had caused a huge doubt of 'hand in gloves' on the part of State Government regarding the fund of the project.
Saying that it has now been compelled to intensify the agitation, SDSA urged the general public to co-operate the association so that the scarcity of drinking water is solved in the district.
