Under the banner of 'Remembering the Mother Nature Month', Royal Riders, Manipur would be observing World Environment Day preceded by a month-long activities to highlight the issue of environmental degradation in different parts of the State.
Announcing this during a press conference at the office of Kangjabi Leirak Youth Club at Nagamapal here today, advisor of Royal Riders, Manipur Momo Laishram informed that it is the first time since its establishment that the Royal Riders would be participating in the World Environment Day observance which falls on June 5 .
However, ahead of the observance, Royal Riders would carry out various campaigns and activities, starting off with a seminar on May 8 at State Guest House, Momo informed, adding that tree plantation, rally, awareness programme, spot painting competition, etc would be some of the other activities that would be organised.
Vice president of Royal Riders, Manipur Phirojit pointed out that environmental degradation has given serious impact on the life of the people.
So all these activities are being planned as part of the ongoing efforts to save the environment.
Before this, Royal Riders have also carried out various activities including tree plantation, medical camps, extension of assistance to inmates of children homes from their own pocket, he recalled, adding that the Royal Riders, Manipur has not asked donation from any individual or group.
Speaking of a medical camp organised recently at Molcham village located along the Indo-Myanmar border, Phirojit recalled that in all 289 villagers have been provided medical treatment free of cost during the camp.
People from Bokan, a village in Myanmar located at a distance of just half a kilometre had also come to attend the camp and avail its facilities.
Inspite of various difficulties faced during the journey, the camp was a success, Phirojit expressed happiness.
General secretary of Royal Riders, Manipur RK Padmava was also present during the press conference.
