Several Manipuri staying outside the state or traveling around India are facing humiliation in the face of fellow countrymen for not knowing the indigenous script of Manipur, YAS Minister N Biren said.
He was speaking as the chief guest during the releasing ceremony of a collection Jamuna Mayengbam's poems 'Leichil Nongfailakta' published by the Kangleipak Loinasillon Apunba Marup (KLAM) in Bengali and Eeyek scripts today at the Manipur Press Club.
N Biren said that various Manipuri from the state are feeling humiliation when they were asked to write their name in their own script.
He said that the state has been facing a variety of problems as no government in the state had implemented developmental works while asserting that the present government has been striving towards the path of development in action.
The programme was graced among others by president of KLAM Sanahongba Mangang as the functional president while the guests of honour were Head of Manipuri department, Kha-Manipur College, Dr Saratchandra Longjam, Joint Director of Education (S) Laishram Mahabir and MEELAL president Ng Yumjao.
L Mahabir while delivering his speech said that Bengali script will not be used in Manipur after few years.
He said the government is well prepared to publish selected books in Meetei Mayek.
