Imphal, Aug 03:
The Naga Peoples' Movement for Human Rights (NPMHR) today has voiced its unhappiness over the atrocities committed by the Assam Rifles.
Speaking to Newmai News Network, NPMHR (South sector) convenor Phamhring said security forces should differentiate between undergrounds and innocent civilians before executing anything and added that the security forces should understand their purpose in serving the people's safe-guard.
Citing few incidents, the NPMHR convenor pointed out the incidents of four family members of Noney in Tamenglong district killed by the Assam Riffles personnel, the disappearance of a Noney boy after arrest by the Assam Riffles, and the recent incident of Leingangching where a student SN Premson was killed by the Assam Riffles.
"There is a peace process taking place at the highest level, why should the armed forces commit atrocities," asked the NPMHR convenor while conveying deep condolences to the victims' families.
