The Movement for Tribal People's Rights Manipur (MTPRM), the All Colleges Tribal Students' Organisation Manipur (ACTSOM), the Zeliangrong Youth Front (ZYF), the Sadar Hills Youth Union and Tribal Vigilance Forum clarified that their agitation is not Manipur bandh but total roads bandh connecting hill districts of Manipur.
They said the August 5 agitation from 6 am to 6 pm have supported by the right thinking citizens and social NGOs.
The statement issued said that the Minister of Education (S) has admitted the mess in his Dept and added that "therefore, he (Education Minister) ought to resign on moral ground to save the children of the state".
The five tribal organisations said that the bandh is being called in protest against the State Govt's failure to hand over the probe of misappropriation of various centrally sponsored schemes, the State Govt's failure to initiate positive steps to redress the grievances of the people particularly the tribals relating to public distribution system (PDS) and decentralisation of powers in the Tribal Development Dept (TDD).
Meanwhile, the statement signed by MTPRM president Ramhaoleng Shanglai, ACTSOM president ML.Haokip, Sadar Hills Youth Union president NG.
Haokip, ZYF (AMN) president Poujeng Kamei and Tribal Vigilance Forum chairman T.Kamei appealed the general public and social organisations to kindly understand the issue and bear for the "sake of justice' adding that the five organisations who are spearheading the agitation understand the problems that will face by the general public but the negligence and stuborness of the state government has compelled to call the 12 hour hill districts road bandh.
It said emergency services of medical, water supply, electricity, media and religious activities will be relax.
