Imphal, Aug 03:
Noting that the teachers of the six Autonomous District Councils have not been paid their salaries for the last four months although the necessary information has been submitted to NIC, the All Manipur District Council Teachers' Association has submitted a memorandum to the Chief Minister today appealing to redress the grievances of the employees at the earliest.
It mentioned that many of the employees have been suffering enormous financial hardships due to non-payment of salaries as monthly salaries are their only means of livelihood.
Referring to the MoU signed between ATSUM and the Government in March this year for extension of pension scheme to District Council employees, it asserted that so far no initiative has been taken up to implement the agreement.
Saying that the families of retired and expired council employees are in a helpless condition as they received no assistance from the State, the memorandum urged the State Government to extend pension benefit to District Council employees.
The Council cautioned that various agitation would be launched if their demands are not met by August 20.
