GOC of 57th Mountain Division Maj Gen GG Dwivedi today inaugurated the 53rd Combined Adventure Course of Manipur Mountaineering and Trekking Association at the Lamdan complex of Manipur Mountaineering Institute.
In his address as chief guest of the 15 day course, the GOC acknowledging presence of several number of adventure sports enthusiasts stressed on active participation of these individuals for successful conduct of the course.
Adventure courses in addition to developing personality also imbibes sense of brotherhood and moulds youth in becoming better citizens, highlighted the chief guest and expressed strong desire of conducting similar courses in near future with even more participation of trainees.
Delivering the presidential address, MMTA president G Anita Devi (Padmashree) recalled of the first ever Mount Everester Tenzing Norgay inaugurating the Lamdan complex of the Institute in 1985 which would not have materialised without generous land donation by the Lamdang villagers.
In the adventure course culminating on February 3 six instructors, including a female will provide mountaineering skills to 61 trainees.
