Imphal, January 20:
The Council of Ministers of the Congress led SPF Government may see some minor changes, with two Ministers facing the prospects of being dropped soon.
Disclosing this to The Sangai Express, a well placed source said that the two Ministers likely to be dropped are from the hill constituencies and their place will be filled up by MLAs from the hills.
Process for axing the two Ministers is underway, added the source.
Numerous complaints have reached the AICC high command against some Ministers of misusing development funds, said the source and added that some Congress MLAs have even intimated to the AICC high command of the damage that the tainted Ministers have done to the prestige of the party.
The AICC high command had also instructed the State Congress to initiate concrete action against the tainted Ministers, added the source.
Though election of the office bearers of the MPCC (I) is scheduled on April 30 this year, the process to drop the tainted Ministers has been taken up to save the image of the party as well as to strengthen its base, informed the source further.
The source however refused to divulge the names of the Ministers likely to be dropped as well as the MLAs likely to be inducted in the Council of Ministers.
A reshuffle of the Ministerial portfolios may also follow the change in the Council of Ministers, said the source.
Even as the Council of Ministers is likely to see two fresh faces, Rajya Sabha MP, Sylvivs Condadan, who is also the Pradesh Election Authority Chairman is set to arrive here tomorrow to over see the preparations for the election of the office bearers of MPCC (I).
Process for the organisational election of the State unit Congress kick started from November 17 last year.
Condadan is scheduled to convene a meeting of the District Returning Officers and Block Returning Officers during his stay at Imphal on January 22 at Congress Bhawan, said the source.
