Even as factional clashes between NSCN-IM and NSCN-K continue unabated social organisations from the Sema Naga tribe today visited Satakha areas of Zunheboto district, Nagaland.
The Sumi Hoho, Sumi Kukami Hoho, Concerned Citizens' Forum, Zunheboto called upon both the NSCN factions and urged to stop the clashes in the larger interest of the general public.
Sumi Hoho general secretary Aheto V.Yepthomi and Sumi Kukami Hoho vice president Kakihe H.Yeptho expressed appreciation to the Peace Monitoring Cell, Satakha; Sumi Totimi Hoho of Satakha unit, GBs and public of Satakha town for their effort in negotiating for peaceful living.
Further, the NGOs appreciated the effort made by parliamentary secretary Kaito Aye and the DC and the SP of Zunheboto; for the services rendered to the people.
The social bodies reminded the Nagaland govt that it was duty-bound to safeguard the lives and properties of the affected at such times and not merely give responsibility to some leaders and officers.
Meanwhile, factional clash between the rival NSCN factions at Hoishe village in Zunheboto district continued for the second consecutive day on Tuesday despite efforts being made by the district administration as well as NGOs to restore normalcy.
According to official sources, the clash, which began Monday morning and continued intermittently till late the evening, resumed at 6.15 am Tuesday but now with more vigour as both sides were believed to have gained strength with the arrival of re-enforcements.
On Tuesday, the clash resumed after a group from the NSCN (K) cadres attacked members of the rival faction who were camping at Hoishe village.
The clash continued till late evening with reports of intermittent firing.
Casualties or injuries, if any, could not be known till filing of this story.
It was reported that officials of the district administration could not enter the village so far.
