Security forces have arrested seven activists of different armed groups in the past 48 hours from districts.
A PRO IGAR (S) release said troops of 23 Assam Rifles of 23 Sector apprehended two KCP MC (Lanheiba) activists during search operation at Nongren Mamang leikai and Nongada Makha Leikai in between 10 pm of November 16 to 3.45 am of November 17 .
The arrested persons have been identified as Kongbrailakbam Naoba Sharma (22) s/o K Modhu Sharma of Nongren Mamang Leikai and Khongbantabam Raghu Singh (49) s/o (L) Kh Mangloo Singh of Nongda Makha Leikai.
Six live rounds of AK 47 have been recovered from the duo.
Out of the four other UG activists netted by State security forces, one PREPAK and a KCP cadre were arrested by Thoubal district police commandos from Sekmaijin Khunou and Kakching Khunou areas respectively on November 16 .
A statement issued by SSP (Thoubal) identified the PREPAK cadre as Thongam Ojit Singh alias Nongpoknganba (380 s/o (L) Th Abo of Sekmaijin Thongam Leikai and the KCP cadre arrested along with troops of 21 AR and 39 AR as Amom Bir Singh alias Kapa (56) s/o (L) A Pasot Singh of Wangoo Makha Sandel Leikai.
While ojit disclosed of being an active member of PREPAK working in the finance section Bir singh is informed to be an active member of a KCP group having Army No.7284 .
One 9 mm pistol with magazine and four live rounds have been recovered from Bir's possession, SSP Clay khongsai added.
On the otherhand, a team of Imphal East district police commandos rounded up two UNPC cadres from Lamlong bridge, from whom one demand letter of 'United Naga People's Council' addressed to SP (Tamenglong) along with one line seal of UNPC secretary general BT Lansha were recovered.
The persons have been identified as Arther Rongmei alias Kinthui (28) s/o Amusana Rongmei of Thangmeiband Muchi khul and Chihanpam Rungsung (32) s/o (L) Ningkhalen Rusung of Somdal village.
Both the arrestees, who joined the UNPC outfit this year disclosed involvement in extortion of money from the public besides transporting arms and ammunition from one place to another, added a release issued by SP (IE) Th Radheshyam.In another incident, Imphal West district police commandos arrested one active member of PREPAK.
The cadre has been identified as Ningombam Lokeshor Singh alias Ngamba (40) s/o late Nungshi of Thongju Pechu Lampak.
On spot verification, Lokeshor disclosed that he is working under one Victor alias Thonglen of PREPAK and involved in the extortion from general public, said a release issued by Imphal West Sr SP .
