Imphal, November 17 2010:
The All Naga Students' Association, Manipur (ANSAM) has strongly opposed the decision of the State Government to confine the surrendered "valley based underground activists" in the designated camp attached to State forces headquarters in the hills.
ANSAM said hill people are peace loving citizens who lead a satisfied life even if it is only on subsistence basis.
"Any attempt to break this congenial fabric is an attempt to infringe upon the sentiments and interest of the hill people.
And under no circumstances will we allow such things to take place which are not acceptable to people's interest," ANSAM said.
The student body said that it fully supports the stand and movement of the JAC against sheltering KCP (Lallumba faction) surrenderees at 8th MR, Leikun, Chandel.
Further, ANSAM has warned that it will not remain mute spectator unless the State Govt of Manipur withdraws its "unilateral" decision to shelter the "surrendered valley" based underground cadres in tribal areas.
In the event of any untoward incident the State Govt will be held responsible, it cautioned.
