In order to spread the message of dignity of labour, enhancement of quality of the native food products and encourage entrepreneurs, the Education and Research Cell of Kanglei Economic Development Organisation (KEDO) has decided to launch a mass campaign through wall posters and leaflets.
The decision to launch the campaign was arrived at during a day-long discussion session held at State Guest House, Sanjenthong here today.
Other resolutions adopted at the end of the discussion session are to increase the number of entrepreneurs in the State, enhance the quality of native products, to exert pressures on the relevant authorities for inclusion of syllabus of the professional courses in the educational syllabus and to sought the opinion and suggestion of the experts in connection with implementation of these resolutions.
Commissioner of Labour, Government of Manipur AR Khan, president of KEDO Chingkheinganba Ningthemcha and Director of Commerce and Industries Dhiraj Yumnam attended the inaugural function of the discussion session as chief guest, president and guest of honour respectively.
Giving the key note address, general secretary of KEDO AK Narjit Meitei maintained that the seed of idleness among the Manipuri people had been sown along with forced conversion into Hinduism during th reign of King Pamheiba.
As the result, the youths today cannot see and think beyond white colour jobs, thus leading to further degradation of the economy of the State.
If we fail to arrest this situation in time, the future of Manipuri society would be very bleak, he said.
In his address as chief guest of the function, AR Khan appreciated the efforts being made by KEDO in the direction of generating self employment and said the example set by KEDO would be emulated by all the NGOs and the Governments who have been giving only lip service in this regard.
Head of Geography Department, Modern College Th Laiba; Associate Professor Chinglen Maisnam of Economics Dept, MU and Reader of MIMS, MU Dr N Jibon were among the resource persons who presented on different topics during the discussion session.
In her observation has the moderator of the discussion session, Head of Political Science Department, Manipur University Ksh Bimola Devi said until and unless the economic condition of the State is sound, there can be no peace and incident of crimes in the society would go on increasing.
In the absence of a table economy in the State, the State Government has to live on the mercy of the Central Government.
So he State leaders should work toward bringing about a stable economy.
Moreover, there should also be co-ordination, between the NGOs and the Government machineries, she said.
