A youth who had reportedly gone to watch a musical programme was found thrashed to death by unidentified persons at the ground of Saiton High School, 10 kms south of Moirang Police Station last night.
The victim has been identified as Ninghoujam Dine (24) s/o Ibomcha of Keibul Chingmei Mayai Leikai.
Dine had reportedly gone out along with one friend identified as Oinam Robin (25) s/o Tomchou of the same locality to witness a musical programme organised in connection with Durga Pujah celebration at Saiton Bazar.
They had gone out from home driving the newly purchase motor cycle Freedom belonging to one of the brother-in-laws of Dine at around 4.30 pm yesterday.
After arriving at Saiton Bazar where the musical programme was held, they also met N Chandra (23), one of the sons of Dine's brother.
After sometime, when Dine said that he was feeling sleepy, all three of them came together at the Saiton Bazar residence of one of the aunties of Dine identified as Salam Ibemhal.
But as the house was found locked, Dine slept on the mat lying on the floor of the veranda, while Robin and Chandra returned to the musical programme.
However, when Robin and Chandra came back to pick up Dine after the musical programme, he was not at the veranda.
Their search for Dine the whole nigh remained futile.
However, when Dine was found dead at Saiton High School ground this morning, Robin was shocked and fainted, and was taken to Churachandpur District Hospital for treatment.
There are thrash marks on the face of the deceased with flood oozing out from his ears.
There were also what seem like strangulation marks on his neck.
Police have picked up the body and kept at the mortuary of RIMS Hospital.
In connection with the incident, a JAC has been formed during a public meeting and resolved not to take back the body until the truth of the matter is known.
