Imphal, January 20: The 24th conference cum sports meet of the Aimol tribe has been kick-started with Science and Technology Minister T Manga Vaiphei gracing the inaugural function as the chief guest at Kha Aimol village in Churachandpur district today.

Speaking on the occasion, the Minister stating that he himself belongs to a small tribe asked the Aimol people not to fritter under the notion that they too belong to a minority tribe.

Extending assistance to the organiser of the four programme, the Minister donated Rs 10,000 to Aimol Students' Union, Manipur besides presenting blankets to several village chiefs that arrived from various hill districts to attend the conference.

President of Aimol Tribe Union of Manipur LN Suahpa presided over the function.

He also donated Rs 1000 to the organizer.
