Criminal contempt likely in PMT case

Imphal, January 20: The Imphal Bench of the Gauhati High Court has today ordered that the records pertaining to the MBBS entrance examination, 2003 be referred to the Chief Justice of the same Court after noticing some allegations of criminal contempt case against three officials.

The ruling was issued by Justice SK Kar after hearing the matter at length.

In December last year, the Court had ordered that civil contempt proceedings be taken up against three officials for their failure to comply with an earlier ruling issued on September 12, 2003.Besides quashing the MBBS entrance examination amendment rules, the September 12 ruling had also set aside the subsidiary list which was prepared after amending the selection rules.
