Imphal, March 16: Bomb experts of the State Police Department safely exploded three Lethod bombs at Joypur Khunnou under Bishnupur PS this morning at around 10.10, said sources.

Sources further said that the three Lethod bombs were recovered by Bishnupur police while scanning the Joypur Khunnou area where well armed militants ambushed a Bishnupur police team yesterday.

It may be noted here that the three Lethod bombs which were recovered today were fired by militants during yesterday's ambush on the Bishnupur police team, added the source.

According to another report, a man who accidentally shot himself while hunting in the jungle located near the Saihun village under Churachandpur dist was admitted at RIMS hospital today, said sources.

The injured hunter has been identified as one Sanga Vaiphei (28) of Saihun village.

Sanga who received a bullet wound on his chest was initially treated at Churachandpur dist Hospital but was shifted to RIMS for further treatment.

Meanwhile, the unidentified youth who died on the way to RIMS after being found with bullet wounds at Serou yesterday has turned out to be a sergeant major of particular proscribed outfit.

Family members of the deceased youth identified the victim as Samokcham Opendro alias Dinesh alias Brojen (30) of Yairipok Kongbam Leikai.

According to family members, Opendro had joined the outfit at an early age some eighteen years back.

He was earlier arrested by the State police from Khwairamband Bazar about four years back and sent to jail but later rejoined the party on being set free from the jail.
