A tentative agreement has been reached between the JAC formed against the killing of Naoba by personnel of 19 Rajput Rifles during a meeting with the Chief Minister today at his office.
As per the agreement reached between the two parties, the Government has agreed to convene a Cabinet meeting tomorrow to discuss the issue as well as to study the report submitted by the State police with regard to the antecedents of the deceased Naoba.
It was agreed that based on the report submitted by the police, the State Government will see if the case can be handed over to the CBI as was the case in the killing of Tejkumar.
The decision taken by the Cabinet would be conveyed to the JAC tomorrow and if it is acceptable to all then the JAC would take back the mortal remains of Naoba which is still lying at the RIMS morgue.
The Cabinet will be informed of the meeting tomorrow at 11 am.
The JAC has also demanded fitting action against the guilty Rajput Rifles personnel according to the law of the land.
The meeting also agreed that the police action in lathi charging the women folk who had come to submit a memorandum to the Chief Minister would be discussed at an appropriate time.
The JAC team was led by its convenor Y Budhichandra.
Meira paibis and the father of Naoba were also present at the meeting.
