Out of the six accused, who threatened a Kolkata based chartered Accountant RN Singh to cough up Rs one crore, three have been remanded to judicial custody by the Chief Judicial Magistrate, Imphal.
The six persons had demanded a sum of Rs 1 crore after abducting RN Singh and keeping him confined at Hotel Nirmala early this month.
The police had arrested five of them including Ganesh Gurung of Kangabam Leikai, Sourab Dey of Kolkata, Sajal Abhishek Rai of Alipur (West Bengal), Sagolsem Bhopendra of Thangmeiband Hijam Dewan Leikai and Dr Mutum Bikramjit on March 6, according to case dossiers.
The next day all the arrested persons were produced before the Duty Magistrate (Judicial Magistrate 1st Class) who ordered that they be remanded to police custody till today.
After nabbing the sixth accused identified as Doren Singh later the same court ordered that the accused by kept under police custody till March 22 while referring the records on the matter to the CJM for further proceedings.
The police reproduced Ganesh, Abhishek and Sourab before the CJM while the other two - Bhopendra and Bikramjit - could not be produced as they were ongoing treatment at RIMS Hospital.
having heard the case the CJM on the same day remanded the trio to judicial custody till march 30 besides asking the Investigation Officer on the case to produce Bhopendra and Bikramjit within 1 pm of March 18.
