ASSAM RIFLES as group winner of group P entered semi final round of the 52nd Sir Churachand Singh KCSI, CBE Memorial Football Tournament 2008 organised by All Manipur Football Association (AMFA) after defeating its opponent Tiddim Road Unique Gamy Players Union (TRUGPU) 1-0, which was played at Mapal Kangjeibung today.
With today's win Assam Rifles have becam the first team to enter semi final round.
Players of both team played the match substan-tially with full enthusiasm.
All the players had one dream or target in their mind that they must enter the semi final.
They tried hard to edged at least one goal against each other.
N Thoi the goalkeeper of TRUGPU was issued a yellow card for playing foul with AKUMAO in the 12th minute.
As the match progress, both team's players mind began to tense as they could not edged any goal.
Assam Rifles got a penalty kick in the 38th minute when Kh Regan of TRUGPU touch the ball while trying to head.
The ball was kicked in from the right flank by S Kipgen of AR.
The penalty kick was kicked byAkumao and turned it into a goal.
In the very next minute L Shanta of Assam Riffles was issued a yellow card for playing foul to L Ibotomba of TRUGPU.
No matter what they tried hard, players of TRUGPU could not edged a single goal against the strong defense of Assam Riffles.
AR too could not scored any further goal against TRUGPU.
Both team's palying tactics were displayed at their best in today's match.
