Imphal, December 16 2008:
The Tangkhul Katamnao Saklong (TKS) or Tangkhul Students' Union has threatened to resort to strong forms of mass agitation in Ukhrul district if its demands of posting all the needed teachers in the science stream at Ukhrul Higher Secondary School (UHSS) before the next academic session (of 2009) commences are not complied with.
TKS president PR Jordan said that inspite of the numerous assurances given by the Government in this regard, nothing has been implemented and added that the purpose of opening a Science stream in the UHSS has become meaningless as the institute has been fumctioning without the Science teachers except for one.
The TKS chief lamented that in the academic session of 2008, the students of the UHSS had faced immense hardship since the Government had failed to post Science teachers in the institute.
"In order to save the students and not to repeat the fate of 2008, the TKS will initiate a series of strong mass agitations if our demand to post the required sciences teachers for the Ukhrul Higher Secondary School before the next academic session is not met", warned PR Jordan.
Meanwhile, the students' body has also urged the Government to be free and fair in the recruitment process of the teachers under ADC.
It said that the step of the Government to recruit teachers under ADC is much to the relief of the people and the TKS welcomes the move of the State Government.
