THE MANIPUR People Party, MPP has brought up the matter of reported gathering of people voters of Moirang Assembly Constituency gathering at the chief minister's bungalow yesterday to the notice of the Chief Election Commission of India stating it as "a gross violation of election model code of conduct in respect of the bye-election to Moirang Assembly by the chief minister of Manipur" .
The MPP urged the ECI to look into the "serious matter of gross violation of model code of conduct by taking proper action and prevent the chief minister, Manipur from resorting to such things which is not allow by the election commission of India.
Mention may be made that with the election code of conduct for the bye-election has been in force since November 23 after the ECI announced that the polling to the bye-election for filling up the vacant post of the Moirang A/C which has been lying vacant since the dead of the sitting MLA in October this year will be held on December 27 .
The general secretary (election), MPP S Dilip lodged the complaint of chief minister violation of the election code of conduct to the ECI today based on the news report published in today's edition of the Imphal Free Press with photograph of people standing in queue at the heavily guarded western gate of the bungalow yesterday evening.
The complaint note reproducing the news items under the headline "CM caught off guard campaigning for by-poll at official bungalow" stated that voters mostly fom Kwakta in the Moirang Assembly Constituency entered freely into otherwise heavily guarded gate of the gathered there to attend the election campaign and other election related things at the chief minister's bungalow.
"The matter cannot be taken lightly in the light of the fact that the Election Commission of India has announced the enforcement of the election code of conduct to the Moirang Assembly seat," said the complaint note citing that the election model code of conduct prohibits and bars the holding of bye-election related function at the official bungalow of the chief minister.
MPP also in the complaint note said that they have also learnt of conducting of similar campaign to the same chief minister's bungalow which is to be attended by the people of proper Moirang.
It is also pertinent to mention that MPP is the only political party that has been sending out against the Congress.
MPP candidate is backing by various other political parties other than the Congress and its partners in the ruling SPF government in the bye-election which would be witnessed on December 27 .
