As in other parts of the country, Vijay Diwas was observed today at Rajya Sainik Board here in commemoration of those who laid down their lives in the Kargil war.
Speaking at the occasion, Chief Minister O Ibobi stated that a memorial site in honour of those who laid down their lives for the Nation in different battles will be developed.

He said that a fitting monument will be built at a suitable site for all the soldiers who made the supreme sacrifices in different battles including those of Kargil War.
On the design and site of the monument, the Chief Minister invited proposals and suggestions from ex-servicemen of the State.
He also asked retired soldiers to put up a proposal so that welfare schemes may be extended to the Rajya Sainik Board.
Three soldiers laid down their lives in the Kargil War.
Many other soldiers who hailed from Manipur lost their lives in the 1999 Kargil War too.
Hailing the soldiers for protecting the country, Ibobi asserted that the whole country is one in fighting any threat.
Information and Public Relations Minister TN Haokip also attended the observance.
During the observance marked by paying of floral tributes to the departed soldiers, two veterans of IndoPakistan war retold their experiences in the battlefield.
