Imphal, March 17 2010:
A 15-days Archery Coaching Camp organised by the Manipur Olympic Association (MOA) as part of the Civic Action Programme of the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) has commenced today at Khuman Lampak Hockey Practice Ground, Imphal.
Altogether 60 boys and girls archers are participating in the coaching programme.
The total cost of the coaching camp is Rs 3,01,950 .
Commissioner, State Information Commission, Manipur, Ch Birendra, retired IAS graced the opening ceremony as chief guest.
DIG, GC CRPF, Rajiv Kumar, IPS was the president of the function.
Dr S Joykumar and Managing Director, Manipur Police Housing Corporation, N Shyamananda, IPS also attended the function as guests of honour.
DIG, GC CRPF, Rajiv Kumar handed over first aid kits and other sports kits to the Secretary, MOA, L Manglem during the opening ceremony.
CRPF is sponsoring the coaching camp under the theme Catch them Young as part of its Civic Action Programme.
All the participants were distributed a pair of tracksuit each.
Besides they were presented with 20 target bush, 60 sets of Archery Bow made of Bamboo for Indian round, 200 target face and first aid medical kits.
In his speech, Birendra said that Archery is a very suitable game for Manipur.
He also said that Manipur Olympic Association is organising the camp with high hopes of winning medals in the Olympic Games.
DIG, Rajiv Kumar said that CRPF has always extending its cooperation to the promising players of the state by providing sports materials and many other facilities under its Civic Action Programme and will continue in doing so.
