Aizawl, March 17 2010:
Two militants suspected to be from Kangleipak Communist Party (KCP), a Manipur-based militant group was arrested by a joint team of Manipur Police and Army personnel at Thuampui in Aizawl on Monday, according to Mizoram police.
The arrested militants have been identified as Laishram Mahad Ranjit (37), son of L Achoubi Singh, Yurembam Awang Leikai under Patsoi PS in Imphal West district and Naorem Anand Singh (28), son of N Dilen, Moidangpok under Patsoi PS in Imphal West district.
Laishram Ranjit is also known in different names like Loya, Apik, Tamnganba, said police today.
The police first arrested eight persons (all Manipuris) on suspicion and these two persons were detained while all of them were released after necessary interrogations.
According to sources, all the arrested 8 Manipuris have been residing in Zemabawk, Aizawl for the last three years by rented house.
They earned their daily bread by doing certian works.
Answering on when the arrested cadres will be deported, Aizawl SP Lalbiakthanga informed that they will be deported when the Manipur's police comes with Production Warrant.
The Manipur police had reached Mizoram to arrest the suspected militants in pursuance of the FIR registered against these two accused at Bishnupur.
