The seven police commandos along with Mangal Gonmei, one of the injured persons in the July 23, 2009 firing incident and a doctor of Regional Institute of Medical Sciences (RIMS) submitted their respective statements today to the PG Agarwal Enquiry Commission.
The seven police commandos are under suspension on charges of allegedly opening fire Khwairamband Bazar (BT Road) on July 23 last year killing two persons and injuring few others.
Gonmei Mangal was injured in the shooting while the doctor had provided first aid to the five persons who suffered injuries in the incident.
It may be recalled that after the people in Manipur burst out with anger, curfew was imposed for several days in the valley districts against the alleged fake encounter.
The state government then constituted the Enquiry Commission, the oneman commission led by retired Justice, Gauhati High Court PG Agarwal on August 27 last year.
Gonmei Mangal has been shifted from All India Institute of Medical sciences, New Delhi to Apollo Hospital where he is currently undergoing further treatment.
The doctor identified as Dr.K Devakanta Sharma (34), said in the statement that he was posted and was functioning as a casualty medical officer, emergency service, RIMS on July 23.The doctor's statement also said that he had attended the five people who were injured in the July 23 incident and provided them first aid as required.
They were then referred to the respective departments/wards for further treatment, said the doctor's statement.
Meanwhile, the seven police commandos who submitted affidavits to the Enquiry Commission have been identified as O Keshore Singh (29), Ng Toyaima Singh (35), Th Jagat Singh (31), k Punsiba (28), W Binoy Kumar (27), Md.Imran khan (23) and Th Herojit Singh (28).The next hearing is on March 29 .
