Central Agriculture University Vice-Chancellor Dr SN Puri has called on the Subject Matter Specialists (SMSs) working with various KVKs to conduct an in-depth analysis on various problems being faced by the farmers of the State.
The Vice-Chancellor was speaking as chief guest of the opening ceremony of a two-day training programme on capacity building measures of SMSs at the conference hall of CAU today.
Dr SN Puri also suggested to identify the areas of speciality of SMSs so that they can impart better knowledge to the farmers.
College of Agriculture Dean Prof N Iboton, who attended the function as guest of honour, said that farmers were unable to reap capacity production due to less rainfall last year.
He suggested the SMSs to include training on rain water harvesting so that farmers may use the harvested water if dry spell persists.
Taking part in the function as guest of honour, CAU Director Research Prof M Rohinikumar expressed hope that the training programme would benefit the SMSs.
CAU Director Extension Education Prof M Premjit graced the occasion as functional president.
KVK Andro Programme Coordinator Dr T Medhabati, Deputy Director Research, faculties from various departments of the varsity, SMSs coming from various KVKs of the State and ICAR scientists took part in the programme.
The training programme is being jointly organised by Directorate of Extension Education and KVK Andro.
