NISA, Thangmeiband defeated NLYC, churachandpur 3-1 at Bishnupur Mini Stadium today to regain lead in the race for the title of the 3rd Manipur State League football tournament.
The defeat of the Churachandpur side away from home with goals from Th Santosh (15), S Herojit (58th) and O Pritam (76th) helped the reigning champion reoccupy the top slot from closest rivals SSU, Singjamei who faltered at the same venue in a 1-1 draw against AMOFA, Moirang.
S Kummenthang scored the consolation goal for NLYC in the 74th minute.
While NISA had defeated the Churachandpur side by the same score margin in the first leg match SSU's home tie against AMOFA ended scoreless.
L Tiken provided the SSU breakthrough only three minutes at Bishnupur today which AMOFA neutralised on a 23rd minute Kh Sobha goal.
In another match played today, Thambalkhong team YWC erased memories of the first leg solitary goal loss to NEROCA, Shangakpham when W Daniel (24th) and L Sumin (28th) led the fightback in the 2-1 victory at THAU ground which served as the NEROCA home turf.
MPSC and USA, Khurai also played at THAU ground today with the former collecting maximum points on Th Rohen's decisive strike in the 65th minute.
The first leg between the two had ended in a goalless draw.
At Kodompokpi ground, host PYC (Phoudel) suffered 3-1 defeat to TRUGPU, Nambol after M Sudhiranjan (5th) opened the score and L Ibotomba sealed the victory with goals in the 54th and 85th minutes.
Md Sabir netted the lone goal for the hosts in the 11th.TRAU, Tiddim Road denied victory to ESU, Wangkhei at Khuman Lampak Main Stadium in the day's other match as Kh Somananda (43rd) and N Jasobanta (55th) neutralised home turf advantage of the Wangkhei side for whom K Rocky (35th) and S Heman (39th) found the mark.
TRAU had won the first leg against the same opponents 1-0.
