Imphal, March 01 2009:
A team of Committee for Development of Tamenglong District comprising of social worker Titus Kamei, mediapersons, local elders and villagers conducted a spot verification of RSVY road on February 26 and 27. Villagers told the team that old materials were used in building Tuipa River bridge.
Wooden planks substituted metal plate of the bridge which was to be built at the cost of 2.62 crores with DDR 200 ft span.
The locals expressed apprehension of great tragedy like the one that had happened at Churachandpur district last year.
The villagers also complained that the road construction has also been halted from February 25 as the bull dozer which was engaged in the said work has been taken away to Imphal.
The villagers also said that the road between L Pabaram to Taipram will be washed away by the water of Barak River during rainy season as it is only 4 to 5 ft in width.
The villagers urged the Government to comlete realignment of this particular section at the earliest.
