Imphal, November 30:
The 22 Assam Rifles based at Maram has a constructed a mini hydro electric plant at the remote village of Thingba Khunou under Purul sub-division in Senapati district.
In a statement, the AR PRO said that the plant has a generating capacity of 7.5 KVA but generates around 3.5-4 KVA at the present due to inadequate running water.
The villagers have expressed their deep gratitude to the CO, Col VS Malik for constructing the plant, said the statement and added that a traditional monolith was unveiled by the village authority to express their gratitude.
Another plant is nearing completion at Maiba village.
