Imphal, November 30:
The attack on the vice-president of the Naga Hoho in Kohima has come under severe condemnation from the Naga Peoples' Organisation (NPO), reports NNN.
Naga Hoho vice-president Keviletou Kiewhuo was beaten and robbed off some money amounting to around Rs 21,000 alongwith two mobile phone handsets by two unidentified gunmen in Kohima on Monday night.
The Naga Hoho leader was blindfolded, with both hands tied behind and then taken to AG Colony where he abandoned.
The two gunmen robbed and assaulted Keviletou even after he had revealed his identity to the gunmen that he is the Naga Hoho vice president.
With this, the Naga Peoples Organisation (NPO), the apex body of the Naga tribes of Senapati district, termed the assaulting incident of the Naga Hoho leader as the biggest sin to carry out such thing on the Naga leader.
NPO president M.Dili informed NNN that an emergency meeting was convened today at Senapati from 12:30 pm to 2 pm and the Naga leaders at the emergency meeting resolved to condemn the incident in the strongest term saying that such act was not a Naga culture.
The NPO further explained that "assaulting on the Naga Hoho leader or for that matter on any Naga leader by any element amount to chopping/cutting the hands and feet of our own parents." The NPO asked the culprits to give reason for the assaulting of Keviletou and also identify themselves at the earliest.
The NPO also urged the Nagaland government to book the culprits immediately and award befitting punishment.
