An audio cassette presented by All Manipur Anti-Drug Association (AMADA) and titled 'Opium War' was released by Director of DDK, Imphal hemanta Naoroibam at MDU hall
today.
The cassette containing nine songs penned by Chingsubam Akaba and Ng Bhimo and sung by different artistes is to spread the message on drug/alcohol abuse prevention with the sale proceed of the Rs 60 per piece cassette to be utilised in rehabilitation of the drug/alcohol affected persons, added an AMADA release.
As part of its ongoing programmes to celebrate its foundation anniversary, AMADA had been highlighting harmful effects of substance abuse in the form of street plays, seminars and awareness campaigns apart from endeavours to present a shumang leela (court yard play) named 'Opium War', it said.
AMADA also urged all concerned specially those in the entertainment sector to restrain from producing films, pen songs and staging of plays that could lure youths into use of intoxicating items and suggested that performers/artistes capitalise their performance to create awareness on harmful affects of substance abuse.
