Imphal, July 11 2009:
Commercial activities in Jiribam continued to be severely affected following closure of the shops by All Jiribam Merchants' Union (AJMU) in protest against extortion drive launched by an armed UG group, reports our Jiribam correspondent.
The Union also convened an emergency meeting in the town hall of the sub-division today to discuss the issue.
The meeting resolved not to comply with the extortion demand served from amy quarters and seek security arrangement for Jiri market from the Government.
