Imphal, July 11 2009:
A wind-solar hybrid power project installed at Hongbei village under Kasom Khullen sub-division of Ukhrul district by the Manipur Renewable Energy Development Agency with the funding from the Union ministry of solar Hybrid Power Project, North East Council (NEC) and Manipur government inaugurated today.
The project taken with an estimate cost of Rs 54 lakh by MANIREDA was inaugurated by its member secretary.
The inaugural function was attended by commissioner Ram Muivah of science and technology and work as chief guest and director, MANIREDA, L Manglem as president.
Delivering his speech as chief guest, Ram Muivah said in taking up development works, villagers should not wait for government project or plan.
Let Government do the development in their own way and people should also do their own way to develop their area, he added.
Only when people try to generate self employment and take interest in earning knowledge, the society will be a developed one, Ram Muivah added.
Speaking as president of the function, director Manglem said the wind-solar hybrid project inaugurated today is the fifth of its kinds installed in the state.
The project will generate 10 kilowatt of power.
Another project which would produce 20 kilowatt of power will be installed at Phungyar of the same district at the earliest, he added.
