Residents of Lilong today blocked the traffic along the Indo-Myanmar section of the NH-39 decrying abduction of two youths by unidentified men last night.
Two youths identified as Md Ajamal Husain (30) son of Atawan Haqu of Lilong Bazar and Md Ningthem alias Balao son of late Basiruddin of Thoubal Moijing were abducted by some miscreants when they come back from Ajamal's farm at Sora.
Before, they were abducted they also showed up to the house of Ajamal's uncle.
They returned back on a motorcycle (pulser brand) bearing registration no.MN-04B-9565 at Lilong.
Locals believed that they were abducted on their way to Lilong by the miscreants.
They also possessed Rs 4500 in cash and mobile phones.
Decrying the abduction of two, this afternoon at around 5 pm, shops at Lilong Bazar closed down to registered protest against the abduction and also stopped selling vegetables and other items in the market place there.
They also blocked the traffic along the highway.
Later, the locals held a meeting and formed a JAC to launch protest against the abduction of two youths.
