The Medical Council of India (MCI) has recommended to the Union Ministry of Health and Family Welfare that the Jawaharlal Nehru Institute of Medical Sciences (JNIMS) may commence its maiden session this year.
An official source said, the MCI made the recommendation after making a spot assessment of the construction work and infrastructure at JNIMS a few days back.
The State Govt has also been informed about the MCI's recommendation to the Ministry.
In line with the MCI's recommendation, the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare is likely to give its consent very soon.
It is reported that the Ministry may give the Letter of Permission to the State Govt on June 15 .
On the other hand, the State Govt is planning to commence the maiden session of JNIMS with an initial intake capacity of 100 seats from August this year.
