Imphal, May 14 2010:
Kuki Students' Organisation (KSO) has expressed concern over Gauhati High Court's summon to ATSUM leaders in connection with the National Highway blockades.
KSO condemned the PIL filed by RK Joysana and Advocate Hemchandra in this regard.
A press release of KSO said that although ATSUM is not in favour of ADC elections as per ADC Act 2008 (Amendment), the apex tribal students' body refrained from directly participating in the present agitation spearheaded by ANSAM as there was no consensus among federating units.
Clarifying that ATSUM and its leaders including its President Thomas Taishya are not involved in the ongoing economic blockade, KSO said that the summon to ATSUM President to appear before the Court on May 20 is a total disregard of the voice of the tribal people.
It warned that KSO in solidarity with ATSUM would be compelled to initiate drastic measures if the clarification is not heard.
KSO also condoled the death of two students in the Mao incident of May 6 .
