The five-days training programme on Library automation organised by the Department of Library and Information Science, Manipur University in association with Information and Library Network Centre, Ahmedabad has concluded today at MU Canchipur.
Director, UGC-ASC, Manipur University, Dr RK Ranjan graced the closing function as chief guest.
Librarian-In-Charge, MU, Dr Th Khomdon was the functional president.
Course Co-ordinator, Dr Th Madhuri and IFLIBNET scientist, HG Hosamani also attended the function.
Speaking in the occasion, Dr Ranjan said that in India as a democratic country, development of Information and Technology is becoming very important.
Steps of communicating the various colleges in the state through network have been taken up under the sponsorship of Ministry of Human Resource and North Eastern Council (NEC).
In his speech, Dr Khomdon said that with the invention of printing press in the 15th century, today's generation has so many books to read as compare to the olden times.
Today e-book, e-journal etc have become common to all.
So in order to keep in pace with the developing world, automation of library has become very important today.
Altogether 40 trainees including 29 staffs of MU Library, six scholars and five students participated in the training programme which had started from May 10 last.
