Imphal, February 10 2010:
The Government of India has communicated to all the State Governments that the States concerned and not the Centre would be responsible in the event of a contempt warrant from the Supreme Court over the failure of implementing High Security Registration Plate (HSRP) in all the engined-vehicles.
According to an official source, on May 6 last year, the Supreme Court had directed implementation of HSRP in all the engined vehicles and the directive should have been enforced within August last year.
However, in case of Manipur, implementation of HSRP has not been successful despite the steps taken up by the Transport Department.
