Tamenglong, February 10, 2010:
All government offices in Tamenglong were totally paralyzed as a consequence of the call for total shut down of all government offices given by the Joint Administrative Council of All Manipur Trade Unions Council, MTUC and All Manipur Government Employees Organization, AMGEO Tamenglong branch, demanding implementation of 6th pay commission for government employees.
The Joint Action Committee of AMGEO and AMTUC Tamenglong branch team comprising 5 to 10 members today visited government offices in Tamenglong for a door to door campaign for the total shutdown of their office till the charter demands are not fulfilled by the state government.
The government employees in Tamenglong readily abided by the campaign and left their offices.
As such taking advantage of the absent DC Tamenglong DRDA Tamenglong and Revenue office looks deserted till 12 pm in the afternoon today.
On touring some government offices in Tamenglong district HQs today by Hueiyen Lanpao News Service, most of the offices were found defunct and the offices wore a deseted look.
In the meantime, while briefing the media persons at Tamenglong District HQs today Ringamang, President JAC of AMGEO and AMTUC Tamenglong branch disclosed that it has taken further steps to intensify the ongoing agitation regarding implementation of 6th Pay commission.
JAC Tamenglong branch have imposed total shut down of the entire government departments in Tamenglong district with effect from today.
"The resolution to shut down totally all government office in Manipur was taken on 4 February at THAU ground Imphal by the JAC Central Committee, Imphal after taking out a silent rally.
We are supposed to shut the office from February 5, itself but due to some unavoidable circumstances we are imposing it from today only February 10", Ringamang said.
"We will be visiting all government offices in Tamenglong and urge their cooperation and the strike will continue till our charter of demands are meet", he added.
On the other hand, the Treasury Office Tamenglong also joined the strike and the department bills for last month have not been passed, a reliable source said.
Apart from the strike all the computers in treasury office have broken down, the source said.
